Fundraise

GET INVOLVED

Want to raise money to support Noor Relief Fund? Or are you a first-time fundraiser and don’t know where to start? Perhaps you’re a regular but just need a little inspiration. Why not take a look at some of our fundraising ideas? Whatever you’re planning, we’ll make sure your big ideas become a reality.

Inspiring Fundriaising Ideas

Afternoon Tea

It’s the quintessential British treat that everyone loves and the perfect excuse for catching up with friends. You can do a tea party anywhere you fancy – at home, at your local community centre, at a friend’s house or in the park!

Pick your venue, choose a date and invite your guests! You can charge an entry fee or ask for donations for any afternoon tea delights your guests have. Why not theme your tea party? You could ask everyone to turn up as their favourite Alice in Wonderland character and make it a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party or they could even come in their glad rags and hold a Ritz-style afternoon tea!

Auction

Fundraising auctions are another great way to raise money for charity. They can take many different forms and can be easily fitted in to other fundraising events. As well as traditional style auctions at fundraising events, many are opting to use online charity auctions to reach people far and wide to raise funds.

Many people donate items such as art pieces, signed football memorabilia, holidays, hotel stays… just to name a few! It may be worth approaching companies as they would be happy to donate new products, services, skills or experiences to a fundraising auction as part of their marketing strategy or simply to show support for charity.

Car Boot Sale

Why not ask friends, family and members of your community to donate unwanted items to your sale to help in raising funds for charity. There is only one way to bring in goods for your fundraising and that is to ask!

Remember… “one man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure!”

Bake sale

If you can’t bring yourselves to cut out the cake, charge people to eat it instead! Organise a few colleagues to get their culinary skills out and bake bake bake! Running a bake sale is a great way to get communities involved in raising money for charity. People enjoy getting together over a common goal. Whether it’s selling or buying brownies and cookies, they just love to mix and mingle at a bake sale.

Coffee Morning

This is one of the easiest fundraisers to organise. It can be as small or as large as you like. You can hold one at home, at work or at a venue of your choice. Coffee mornings provide a wonderful opportunity to get your favourite people, colleagues or even your wider community together to catch up, have a natter, eat treats and raise money… what a fantastic combination!

Dinner Party

Why not turn your dining room into a restaurant by holding a dinner party with a difference. Pick a theme and invite your family and friends to join in the fun. You can choose a country to set a theme for your evening and serve some traditional delights…you’ll knock their socks off with a cracking meal and ask your guests for a generous donation in return.

Football Match

Whether you play, watch or are just interested in football here’s your chance to take up the challenge for charity!

The size of the match is up to you. You can do 5-a-side with friends, organise a tournament, team up with a club/company or even take over a stadium!

You can raise money through the following;

Asking players to pay to play
Using collection buckets on the day
Through a sponsorship page

You can even set up a fundraising league table for extra competition!

Games/Quiz Night

Trivia and Quiz nights are an absolute winner when it comes to fundraising. Sociable and fun with a touch of friendly competition – it’s hard to beat plus you’ll be holding the event to fundraise for charity. But if you’ve never run a quiz, the idea of putting one on can be daunting. Fear not! You only need two things: fun questions, and a bit of organisation! There are lots of fantastic ‘apps’ which will help make the quiz for you. Structure it as simple or as broad as you like. Add in more fun and enjoyable ways to present the quiz. Include general knowledge, trivia, movie scenes or charades…then with an entry fee for charity you can test your friends and colleagues to see who grabs the winning prize!

Sports Day

Ready, set, go!… A day filled with fun and competitive games, so why not get kids running, skipping, jumping… and even carrying an egg on a spoon. Make your annual sports day a day for Noor Relief Fund by having a small entrance fee, sponsor pupils per lap or race and hold a collection as eager parents watch and cheer their children on. Sell tickets for the day or ask for a donation per race entry. You can also sell refreshments or have a BBQ to maximise your fundraising.

Marathon Events

Running for a charity has a different significance for different people. Whatever the motivation, it will provide you with that added sense of drive during both your training and participation. It’s time to put on your running shoes and get training, whether you are new to running and keen to do your first event, or looking for something for the whole family – or you’re an avid marathon runner! Whatever your level, you can be a running hero!

All students know too well that usually when the school bell rings you can’t leave quick enough. But, why not make the most of your school hall and hold a marathon event – like 24 hours of table tennis, aerobics or badminton (in shifts, unless you’re feeling really brave).

So – get to the starting line!

Bike Ride

You might be a cycling enthusiast, looking to push yourself to your limits. Are you looking for the next big challenge? Or wanting to get into fitness or generally live a healthy lifestyle? Riding for charity is a rewarding experience and with cycling’s popularity at an all-time high, it’s never been easier to organise a charity bike ride.

Uniform Free Day

Everyone loves to dress up (or down). Also known as Mufti Day this is one of the most common and popular school fundraisers. Pupils pay either a set fee or make a donation to leave blazers, ties and sweatshirts at home. Wearing your own clothes to school is a dream for many kids and Mufti Days are always a much-anticipated highlight of the school year. You could also have ‘bring a game to school day.’

Ask your colleagues at work for a donation to take part. Why not take it a bit further and get everyone to dress in a certain colour?

Promote your fundraiser on social media

Using social media is one of the best ways to make sure everyone knows about your fundraising event. These days it’s all about sharing information and engaging with people, which makes it the best tool at hand. It’s a free and fast way to promote your event, share your news, stories and successes.

For an easy and quick way, why not set up an online fundraising page with JustGiving which allows your family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you wherever they are. Why not share your page on social media and keep everyone updated with your progress. Once you have finished fundraising, JustGiving sends us the money – simple!

Office Fundraising
Bake Sale

Everyone in the office brings in something that they’ve baked. There could be a donation for every slice eaten. There could even be an elected judging panel that awards the best three cakes with rosettes, and the worst cake with a wooden spoon.

Something Red

How about a day where everyone taking part donates money for painting their face red or wearing something red. Maybe one donation per red item. So, if you’re feeling generous, you could roll up in red shoes, socks, trousers, t-shirt, jacket, with your face painted red with a red wig on!

Ugly Sweater Party

We all have that one horrible sweater a well-intentioned family member gifted us. It’s time to put it to good use. Everyone donates at the door for the most horrible sweater and the winner gets a prize.

Guess the Baby

Ask everyone at work to send you a baby photo of them and pin the photos up in your main meeting room. Charge a small fee for entry and ask your colleagues to guess which baby is who on a sheet of answer paper. The person with the most correct guesses wins a prize.

Sports Day

Pick a date, cross your fingers for good weather, and organise a school-style sports day on a grassy area near your office. You can make the activities as serious or as fun as you like – from hurdles to an egg and spoon race – just make sure that there’s something for everyone.

Company Car Wash

Find some willing teammates who don’t mind rolling their sleeves up and some colleagues with really dirty cars. Ask any interested colleagues to pay a fee upfront and at lunchtime, put your volunteers to work car washing in the office car park.
