Gift Aid is a scheme run by the tax authorities in the UK which increases the value of donations made to charities by UK taxpayers. The way it works is that, for every £1 you donate, we can claim back an extra 25p against the tax you pay. This means that if, for example, you make a donation of £100, we will receive a total £125 at no extra cost to yourself. You simply need to be paying an amount of tax that is at least equal to the amount of Gift Aid being reclaimed on your donation in that tax year. We can claim Gift Aid on both individual donations and sponsorships, but not on events that require an entry fee (such as tickets to our Gala Dinner) or on anonymous donations where the donor cannot be traced. You can visit the official webpage to learn more about Gift Aid.
We know that this sounds a bit complicated and sometimes people don’t want to bother with the fuss, but really it couldn’t be easier. If you are a taxpayer in the UK, all you have to do is select the option when donating online confirming that we can collect Gift Aid from you, and we’ll be able to claim an extra 25% on your donation. Otherwise you will need to fill out a Gift Aid Declaration Form which we can provide you with. If you are currently donating to us (or have recently donated), are a UK taxpayer and haven’t yet declared your donations eligible for Gift Aid, please contact us on 020 8204 1167 or at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll send you a Declaration Form. Remember, this is an extra 25% for the orpahans at no extra cost to yourself.Leave a reply →
