CASE STUDY

Mehdi in a physio-therapy session

Problem

Following the death of his father when he was only 4 years old, Mehdi* suffered an epileptic fit. He was left unable to walk or stand and relied on his grieving widowed mother and sisters to do everything for him.

*The name of the orphan has been changed to protect their privacy.

Challenge

As a result of his condition Mehdi was not able to attend school and had limited mobility – this had a detrimental effect on his mental wellbeing because his condition had prevented him from having a normal childhood.

Result

Noor Orphans Fund raised funds for the now 9-year-old Mehdi during our 2018 annual Gala Dinner as part of our healthcare campaign.

His mother received funds every month to cover his medication and other extra living expenses.  Mehdi was also referred to a physiotherapist to help him with his muscle weakness to prevent bone deformity and disability in the future.

Mehdi has now been receiving approximately four sessions per week and this video below shows the fantastic progress he achieved after just a few sessions!

This means that Mehdi can finally attend school and participate in activities with other children.

The Noor Orphans Fund sponsorship programme provides regular medical screenings to all the children, their siblings, and their guardians who are registered with us.

We sincerely thank all of our donors who make it possible for us to help orphans like Mehdi.
